The event was opened and closed by Grandmother LánéSaán Moonwalker . She also lead two workshops. Huge thanks to Roxi and Ari and the incredible team they assembled to create the event.

The Heart Star Portal was set up just in front of the main building and pond that has trees growing up a metal structure.

The Sky Portal had a great location on the side of the property close to the camping area, slightly remote yet easily accessible.

People enjoyed the experience of floating in the sky both day and night, and interacting with each other, while the Tibetan Bowl recording filled the space with meditative sounds.

I had a table set up with my Portal to the New Earth books in the main building, with crystal and geometries.

There was an incredible dome arbor of trees with a bench seat all around that Grandmother’s assistant Katie made an auspicious mandala altar in the center. This is where Grandmother lead her workshops and did a closing ceremony, where a humming bird perched in a branch directly over the center of mandala for the whole time!

I ran into my friend Angela, aka Synchro Quasar, and we did a Tibetan meditation on one of the last days there, both of us synchronistically wearing Tibetan monk maroon colored clothing!

There was an area that had these old cars with trees growing out of them that I explored with Amanda. To my surprise this is the exact car my dad bought new in 1965 and I learned to drive on in 1975, a 1965 Buick Electra 225!

The Heart Star Portal in front of the main building, designed by architect Sim Van der Ryn, with the pond covered by the metal structure for trees to grow on. The Solar Living Center opened in 1996 and closed in Oct of 2020. It is now a retreat center called Gateway Mendocino. I met Ted, the “behind the scenes” founder of Real Goods and the Solar Living Center. He loves heart shapes and was surprised to see that the Heart Star Portal forms perfect hearts when viewed from above.

There were around a dozen other interactive art installations scattered about the property:

A small side stage by Pahram featuring a Boteh, which is the original name for the Paisley design, hosted late night performances. This is Roxi’s sister Zahra performing.

The closing ceremony by Grandmother LánéSaán Moonwalker with Roxi featured the Butoh performers Bad Uncle Sista flanking the stage. They also performed on the Boteh stage and held a Butoh workshop as well.

The final closing ceremony was planting a willow tree where Jangee had set up his “Humanitree” experience. He planted many people in the earth for 15-30 minutes at a time (see the two leg holes in the center of the heart shaped earth area). Jangee brought Humanitree to my Portal to the New Earth events that I held in Joshua Tree 2014-2019.

Iceland Eclipse Festival Aug. 11-15

Although I had proposed building a Sky Portal and doing a presentation on my work at the Iceland Eclipse Festival happening during the total solar eclipse that passes over there on Aug. 12, they were unable to accommodate that request. They have included me as a work volunteer to help build the festival, so I will be arriving there Aug. 2 to help set up the festival and then participate in the festival Aug. 11-15. I will then have an opportunity to sight see in Iceland Aug. 16-20 before flying home.

No Burning Man this year!

Experience the new Earth Star Portal in the Virtual Burning Man “Burner Sphere” on Steam

I will not be building a new Portal installation and bringing it to Burning Man this year. There are quite a number of long time Burning Man camps not returning this year as well, it seems the tide has turned.

But… All of the Portals I have ever built plus four proposed but not built Portals are all accessible in the virtual reality Burning Man called the Burner Sphere that is accessed using an application called Steam VR. Once in the Burner Sphere, there a number of different worlds, as you can’t access everything all at once. There are world selectors to visit each of these worlds, such as Center Camp (where you arrive) and other sections of the city and the Playa. I have my own stand alone “TransPortals” world with eighteen Portals in it spread out hundreds of feet apart.

The new 1:37 EarthStar Portal (that I applied for a grant to build for Burning Man 2026, but didn’t receive) is accessible in this VR TransPortals world. You need to install the Steam Application either on you computer or your VR headset to access this, but once you have it installed, its very simple and free to use!

Looking for Collaborators

Portal to the New Earth has five areas of focus that are open to collaboration. I’m looking for motivated people to collaborate and work with in the marketing and sales of Portals and related merchandise to generate income as well as focus on the other aspects listed below. There is the possibility to be able to live at the house in Joshua Tree, CA (see below, currently an Airbnb) to work on these projects. Email me if you feel you are aligned and able to help out with any of these:

1. Collaborate on designing and building eco villages based on organic heart centered principles and TerrAquaforming, completely ecologically integrated with nature, with minimal high tech, only used sparingly where needed.

2. Create Virtual Reality eco-villages to experiment and experience them before actually building. Create a Virtual Reality game of building the 12 Spiral City. Create Virtual Reality Portal installations that are accessible 24/7 globally.

3. Build actual Portal installations for Burning Man, other festivals and private commissions. Produce and promote peripheral merchandise such as pendants, patches, stickers and t-shirts. Produce the Portal to the New Earth event at Boulder Gardens.

4. Create videos for Portal to the New Earth YouTube and podcast channels, including interviews with other like-minded people as well as stand-alone videos documenting the Portal installations, Twelve Spiral City concept, TerrAquaforming technique, etc.

5. Promote the Portal to the New Earth book. Gift copies to major architecture and design school libraries. Arrange to do book presentations at architecture and design schools, podcasts and other events and festivals.

I was invited to bring the Sky Portal and Heart Star Portal to the intimate 200 person Cosmic Campout overlooking Lake Piru, CA May 8-10

It was the third year the event was produced by Milo Albright with the help of Lauren Lior, who met me at Arcosanti in 2024 and invited me to bring Portal installations and do a presentation. Vegan meals were included for everyone and there was a wide variety of workshops, sound baths and late night dance music.

Virtual Portals in the BurnerSphere

I have had all of my Portal installations, both built and proposed to be built, modeled in the virtual reality Burning Man project called the Burner Sphere. This is an evolution from one of the virtual reality Burning Mans that was created during the 2020 lock down. It is accessed through a virtual reality application called SteamVR that has numerous VR games available. You need to download and install the application to be able to access the VR Portals, either on a computer, or ideally on a VR headset with hand controllers. Its also possible to stream live and record videos in the VR world to share what your avatar sees with other people. I will eventually create access through my website to a stand alone TransPortals VR world, without having to access them through the Burner Sphere VR. Here are a few screenshot sneak preview of a few of them:

My overall experience at the Conscious Life Expo was quite mixed, with a few good interactions and presentations that were overshadowed by what I see as a highly infiltrated and co-opted community of New Age “grifters”, if not outright controlled opposition plants. And it seems the community at large is completely unaware of this infiltration and co-option and follow and believe these people blindly without discernment. 11:11 Diamond Portal in the Virtual Reality Burning Man “Burner Sphere”

I have had all the Portal installations, both built and proposed for Burning Man, created in virtual reality to be part of the Burning Man virtual reality experience called “The Burner Sphere”. They will ultimately be able to be accessed as their own stand alone virtual reality world, but for now it is contained in the Burner Sphere VR world.

It is designed and ideally accessed using VR headset, but it can be accessed from a computer, using the virtual reality application called Steam. You create an avatar and can meet up with other people in the Portals in their avatar. When in or near the Portals there is the sound of the Quasar Wave Transducer or other sounds used in the Portals, as well as being able to talk and hear other participants, as well as a low background noise emanating from the rest of Burning Man of all the mashed up music and sounds, for a fully aural as well as 3D visual experience! I will be sharing more on this as it gets completed.
